Reviews for Pupuseria el Guanako
Review highlights
Based on 126 reviewsPupuseria el Guanako is widely appreciated for its authentic Salvadoran pupusas, noted for generous fillings and fresh, flavorful ingredients. Customers frequently commend the quality and taste, especially highlighting the well-balanced cheese and the complementary salsa verde and pickled vegetables. The portion sizes are considered generous, and prices are viewed as very reasonable. While the pupusas remain the main draw, some patrons express interest in exploring additional menu items. Service experiences appear mixed but do not overshadow the overall positive reception of the food. This combination of quality, affordability, and inviting flavors defines the brand's strong local appeal.
Delicious, very tasty, more stuffed than dough it was over following the cheese!!
Ok pupusas. Will try other stuff like mondongo soup looks good. Gave it a second chance and the pupusas were much better!
Solid pupusas, the salsa verde has a good kick and the side purple veggies to put on top pair perfectly. Also price is great $2.50 per pupusa, can’t beat that
Never had better pupusas in my life . Service is hit or miss lol. To be expected though when the food is art.
I still have yet to try the other food in their menu, but their pupusas are good. Fresh and hot everytime you get an order and portions are good. Love the cheese pupusaaaa
Great little nock in the heart of Englewood, NJ for the best Salvadorian home cooking in the area. Always get personalized service at this place. You want it, just ask. Ms. Yolanda and Jorge always go above and beyond to make you culinary experience memorable. Recommend, give it a shot you will not be disappointed!
Small place with just one dining table, but their food is amazing and their prices are from 1990!!! Did I say their prices are super cheap? I am hooked on their Quesadilla (don’t confuse it with the Mexican Quesadilla), as this is a sweet treat and is really really good - meant to be consumed anytime but mainly as a dessert.
Food is amazing but the lady who is at the front is never welcoming. I gave it 3 times and my wife went on her own a few times but this lady is just never welcoming. No smile, wont look at you, wont acknowledge you not even once. Then will start talking to you without an introduction as if you are just supposed to know shes talking to you. She will say something like " what are you here for". this is either a 3 or 4 star review because of her. Otherwise food is 5 star quality. but enjoy your food after dealing with this woman. oh and she might even be the owner by how small the place is.
